Message :Years ago I found one that was willing to work with me and for a little bit extra I got a decent job out of it. I did a lot of the prep work and took off the trim that they would normally just mask off (and usually not too well, either). The only real issues were places I had not prepped well, and they said they would take care of, that stuff was sub-par. Apparently they had a good painter (which can be the case when you paint 100 cars a week) because the paint was laid on very smooth, with very little trash in it. The key to painting is really in the surface preparation and the finishing (wet sanding and buffing) afterwards.

That's good advice. They are taking the trim off, because it's starting to peel from the black textured paint that was already on it. And maybe I'll see if I can talk to the guy who is going to do the actual painting - promise of 'something extra' if I like what he does might go a long way.

This paint job will be par in places, sub par in others... but it sure beats the 'double bogey' job it's currently wearing...

:-)
